World-Class Research for Our Community

The Center for Community Solutions harnesses UCR’s strength in world-class research by conducting empirically rigorous, interdisciplinary work that is in conversation with our community and speaks to the major policy questions of our time.

We strive to be responsive to regional interests in our research and are interested in a broad range of policy topics – from questions of economic development to community health to environmental sustainability, and beyond. A selection of our current projects is included below.

Warehousing + Policy

One of the most commonly cited policy challenges noted in community conversations is the need for the logistics and warehousing (L&W) industry to evolve to increase development and quality of life in Inland Southern California. Against the backdrop of prior research, this ongoing project solicits perspectives from industry, government, and community representatives. Sustainability Literacy Assessment

In collaboration with the Office of Sustainability, the Center for Community Solutions is developing a sustainability literacy assessment to be piloted on the UC Riverside campus in 2024-2025. This assessment will comprehensively evaluate UCR students' knowledge and literacy of sustainability topics, provide a baseline of student understanding, identify opportunities for improved education, and offer a framework for a UC-systemwide sustainability literacy assessment.
